Games only ever see the public ID. Players may stay anonymous or log in to sync the two. - Pricing: free for players and free for developers. Parents pay $1 per year per parent account. - Channels are keyed by any string a game already tracks (scene name, map location) and are created on first use. - Kid-safe chat: every child account has a linked parent account with a dashboard (people chatted with, hours per game, topics, AI summaries, email alerts on threats, parental controls). Arrives with early access. ## Frequently asked questions ### What is Astralink Nexus? Astralink Nexus is an API and SDK product that gives developers text chat, voice chat, FM-radio-style broadcast channels, direct messages, and built-in email they can drop into any game, website, or application without building real-time infrastructure from scratch. ### Is Astralink Nexus safe for kids? Astralink Nexus is designed around child safety. When a child registers, a linked parent account is created automatically. Parents get a dashboard with everyone their child chatted with, AI summaries of conversations and play sessions, email alerts when a threat is detected, and controls such as approving friends and setting quiet hours. These parent features arrive with early access. ### How much does Astralink Nexus cost? It is free for players and free for developers. Parents pay $1 per year for each parent account, which includes the parent dashboard with AI summaries, alerts and controls. ### Who is Astralink Nexus for? Developers and studios who need chat or voice in their own product, such as indie game teams, community platforms, and app builders who want communication features without standing up their own signaling, voice, and media servers. It is also for parents who want their children's games to offer safer chat. ### Does it work with Unity, Android, iOS and websites? Yes. Astralink Nexus is a plain REST and WebSocket API, so any platform that can make HTTPS requests can use it, including Unity games, Android and iOS apps, and websites. Small SDKs for popular engines are planned on top of the same API. ### Do games see a player's private account? No. A player has a private Astralink account that they register and log into themselves. A game only ever sees the public ID that the game assigned. Players can stay anonymous in a game, or log in to sync their account with their game ID. ### How do dynamic, location-aware channels work? You key a channel by whatever your game already tracks, such as a scene name, a world-map location, or a zone ID. Astralink Nexus creates the channel automatically the first time it's used, and anyone in the same place lands in the same conversation, without you managing rooms by hand. ### What is the 'FM radio' broadcast feature? Broadcast channels let one or more sources transmit a shared voice or audio stream to any number of listeners who tune in, similar to an FM radio station. It is useful for in-game announcements, live events, or shared audio experiences. ### Does it handle email and direct messages too? Yes. On top of chat and voice, users get direct messages, an internal in-app mailbox, and real send/receive email delivery, plus a profile with a picture and a profile card that can carry external links. ### Can players use it from any device? Yes. Astralink Nexus is multiplatform by default. Users log in with one account from desktop, mobile, or browser and stay in sync with the same game chat wherever they connect. ### Is this a hosted product or something I self-host? Astralink Nexus is a hosted API: you integrate the SDK or REST/WebSocket API into your project and we run the chat, voice, and broadcast infrastructure. ### When can I start integrating? The API is under active development. Create an account to be notified as early access opens.
